I got a lot of weeding done yesterday. Most of the "weeds" are watermelon, cantaloupe, and sunflower plants popping up everywhere from the compost. I may have as few as 6 of the sweet potato vines survive. I waited to weed because I also planted okra with the sweet potatoes, but don't remember what the okra seedlings looked like last year.
But I continue to have hope I will be eating my own sweet potatoes this year.
