How's everyone doing with their resolutions?
I've held to mine about 50% - I've been pretty selective about pollination/crossings, so I wouldn't end up with too many seeds for fall planting, keeping me focused on breeding my "best" to my "best" and letting others just bloom for show. My experiment with refrigerating stamens, using pollen over a period of 10 days, has been a great boon and I'm trying to refine it further to extend viable pollen for even longer at the 45-degree range.
I'm also adding one last resolution. One that is hard for me, but I know I will be glad to finally practice and handle it as a normal part of gardening routine. I need to start removing cultivars that are not going to be used for hybridizing. The space will quickly be filled with plants that arrived this spring, many waiting at the ready in pots right now. I'll try to remember to note reasons in the database - too fast increase, dormant performance when it says evergreen, and two summers to bloom true to form are all things in the "eye of the beholder," but may help to round out the picture of each cultivar for others.
Grateful to Seedsower for starting the thread. First time a resolution-making endeavor has yielded definite steps forward!
