Absolutely not. I took both cuttings in late fall, each about 2' long. Trimmed all the leaves and just stuck them in the ground bout 12" deep. What is really strange is the weigela they came from has since rebounded and bloomed like crazy this spring, there is some long sucker type growth but none of the white bells or fruit?
