Just went out to hunt the Alpinias up, and they are all finished blooming for this year, Blinking I did find my little Peacock Ginger (Kaemferia) going to town with little sparkly flowers. They have so much diamond dusting, the color washes out for the camera. I had to shade them with my hand to get the color. These guys put out new flowers every day, but they fade by afternoon. The roots smell very ginger-y

Also found the Zingiber zerumbet blooming away. It's another one that hides its flowers and I usually never see them until the 'cones' turn red after the flowers are gone.

So,now that I was out really looking, the Rainbow Costus made a liar out of me, with two scapes starting flowers. The plant still looks pretty ratty compared to when it was in a pot, though.
