I find it difficult to get accurate real-time information on the fire. Last I heard it is still zero percent contained, and moving in a more or less southeastern direction. We have friends at Alta Lake who report the campground, golf course clubhouse, and all houses on the first nine holes are gone. Our friend's house was spared, but his neighbor across the street lost his house. My sister in Twisp is likewise so far OK and it appears the fire is moving away from her. Unless the wind shifts. On the plus side, Twisp was downgraded from Level 2 to Level 1 alert, which is promising. But, the fires still rage and are just moving where more fuel is.

I was really discouraged to learn that the Winthrop Blues Festival continues to claim their location (just outside Winthrop) is 'totally safe' (whatever that might mean in the midst of a fire storm) and encourages tourists to clog up the few roads still open to go drink beer and listen to music, while all the officials continue to ask people to NOT go to Okanogan County, period. And the Chelan sheriff is chasing after some fools who are lighting off fireworks. I just don't get it.

Woofie, I hope this thing wears itself out or is otherwise contained before it gets over to your neck of woods. And that everyone in Oregon and Idaho are safe from their fires as well.

Here's a link that shows the various fires, not sure how often it is updated.

I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
