Mary Ann.....If an iris is a little older and I think the bidding is about at a fair price and we have multiples I take it upon myself to stop the bidding and offer a second or third rhizome to the last bidders for the same price, If the ones left are much smaller I may knock off a dollar or two. If they are new or in high demand I let the bidding go. Not everyone likes this policy but if they object they can tie a can to me and get a new auctioneer next year. I love making money for the club but don't want to be greedy.
