Name: Heidi Douglas

This is Heidi Douglas from Browns Ferry Gardens and I feel it is important that I reply to this thread. We do sell daylilies to Gilbert Wild for their catalog. We have lots of varieties like BIKER BABE that increase very quickly. When we introduced BIKER BABE in 2012 we had over 70 pots. We sell all our daylilies from pots. We sold some and we gave some to clubs for auctions, but still had many left over, so we planted them in a large grow bed and reserved them for Wilds. We probably sent him 100 single fans. So we are not talking quantities in the thousands. They are not tissue cultured. They are our plants and have been grown in our fields. We just shipped BIKER BABE and many other newer introductions to Wilds this past spring. I know he said he was going to pot them up. I'm sure many went in the fields for future increase.

We still sell BIKER BABE for $70 because we have a process for pricing introductions based on the year of introduction. We sold newer things to Wilds because we didn't feel our customers were that big of an overlap. I guess I have found out that assumption was wrong:( We also sold him many newer things because we have so many of them and we just don't have the room or the man power to take care of them. Please feel confident in purchasing any Douglas daylilies from Wilds knowing they are the real plant and not tissue cultured. It doesn't bother us one bit that you can get them cheaper from Wild's. We are thrilled to be featured in his catalogs and have our flowers growing in your gardens, no matter how you get them!

We agree with your concern about tissue culture plants. They do NOT perform the same as the original cultivar. Greg has told me they do not sell tissue culture. I know he purchases many older daylilies from lots of different people to provide the quantities he needs. I would not hesitate to order from Wild's if I wanted some daylilies. Believe it or not, I have too many already:)
