Northern California (Zone 9a)

Mesic means moderately wet. Do we need all of the gradations (wet mesic and dry mesic)? Can we get by on "In water; Wet; Moderately wet; Dry"? Or perhaps we could have "In water; Wet; Medium; Dry"?
