I haven't tried rooting clematis cuttings myself, although I keep meaning to do so. What I've read is that you just stick the cutting into a pot of moist soil (after dipping in rooting hormone if you have it) and cover it with a plastic dome of some sort. Set it somewhere out of direct sunlight and wait. Worth a try!
