I like lots of heirlooms, and try to grow two new ones every year, but to stick to the topic, I'll just list the ones I've had the most success with:

Best taste: Cherokee Purple - average yields but complex flavor (better than Black Krim)

Big and productive: Neve's Azorean red - usually over 1 lb - I have to pick mine when pink to keep chipmunks from nibbling on them. Make sure plant is well supported.

Best Yellow: Kellogs Breakfast - I haven't had much success with KBX, Earl of Edgecomb is nice but not very productive

Meatiest: Most Oxhearts like Anna Russian or Kosovo. Pink Oxheart is not quite as tasty, but has more fruit.

Cherry: Pink Ping Pong and Moravsky Div are bigger than most cherries but just the right size for salads. Black Cherry tastes good but has not been very productive for me. For yellow cherries I prefer the hybrid Sungold.

Early: Matina, Moravsky Div

Canning: Opalka, Oxhearts, and maybe Heidi (I tried that for the first time this year)

Dwarf: I'm growing four of the dwarf tomato project plants this year and will report on them later.
