Since we have pretty consistently 85 to 90deg. weather here most of the time the Caladiums are growing, I think the color variations on the leaves on mine are mostly due to different amounts of light and water. The 'bleeding' on mine definitely happens more when there is rain and the leaves stay wet for hours.
Mine make much more green veining, and a thicker green edge in deep shade. It makes sense if you think about it, the plant needs more chlorophyll because of the lower light intensity?
I fertilized mine with a balanced timed release fert at the end of May and that's all they've had. I'm planting some more now that will grow through the fall, and they'll get the same. But maybe I'll try putting some Black Kow in with some of them and see if the nitrogen boost makes a difference to the color. Hmmm.. I do love an experiment! None of the new bulbs are White Queen, though.
