Alex, I can't help but agree with you in regard to this summer's weather patterns and effects on the garden. July was a disappointment in many regards with the cool overnight temps and mornings and it affected more than daylilies here. Glads and cannas took a hit, in fact my cannas are only trying to start to bloom. Through July they seemed to be frozen in time as if someone had hit a "pause" button. We've had some warm nights recently and growth and blooms seem directly related. Glads from small corms fizzled, larger corms send up stems of muddy, half-hearted blooms.
At least we have the internet to enjoy other people's gardens and flowers. As for daylilies all I really have left are seed pods to watch over
