Personally, I'd rather they concentrate their efforts on eating aphids, but I can easily see how these big guys would be a much more satisfying meal. The wrens aren't close-by anymore, and I can really see the difference in the rise of the late summer aphid population.

This monarch cat is the first I've seen here this year, and it's not even munching a plant I sowed or planted for it. It chose instead a self-sown Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) plant next to the last remaining log pile in my yard.
