Nice one, Margaret. Hooray for those BAMONA folks.
I had to release another Polydamas today and gather more food for the cats and I ended up getting a few pictures. Here's the Polydamas which didn't fly miles away and instead hung out on the front columns of my house for a minute. Then it flew miles away.
I'm always trying to show the guests at MOSI (and you guys) how the Zebra Longwings eat pollen. I got a pretty good photo today - just look at that yellow glob!
Speaking of yellow things, I found some kind of Sulphur cat while I was picking Senna. I'm going to place bets this is an Orange-Barred due to the sheer number of them, plus the fact that he was in the area where the Orange-Barred was laying eggs last week. The Cloudless stuck to the other side of the Sennas.
It's a hard-knock life for this Gulf Fritillary enjoying my Mexican Flame Vine. I followed it over to the firebush, too.
In other news, I gathered more Pipevine and Polydamas eggs. Found a bunch more Poly cats, too. I also saw a Spicebush ST on my firebush (odd choice for them) but I was on the wrong side of the fence so I couldn't get a pic. It appeared to be a male. Even if I had a female, she probably couldn't find the spicebush or the sassafras due to all the weeds. This is a brutal time of year. It's super hot so you can't be outside for too long but with the heat and the rain nearly every day the weeds just shoot up! And the butterflies are so fast and I am just dragging along. I just keep reminding myself fall will come eventually.
