it is in rather deep shade, on the edge of the clearing facing south - so still very bright shade and there is a lot of reflected light from the pond and pavement too. i don't think it ever gets any direct sun at all, even in winter, since there are more tall dense trees across the lot on the opposite side too. it's probably 15-20' from the open sunny pavement.
but it is south florida - so even shade is very bright. here is a bigger pic (had to paste dh out..., so it's doctored a bit, extending the plant wider) for you - on the left there are crotons in the shade and in the back giant anthurium.
