Around here we love our Magnolias. Do you know what variety you have?

Magnolia seeds need to be scarified (seed coat removed) and stratified (exposed to cool or cold temperatures for a period of time). After removing the seed coat, allow the seeds to rest for 3-6 months at around 40° to 45° F but don't let them dry out. The refrigerator works for that if you keep your fridge somewhere in that temperature range. After planting, the tiny seedlings are delicate and may freeze in very cold winter weather. The seeds could be planted inside and seedlings moved outdoors in warmer weather.
I garden for the pollinators.
