mellielong said:Okay, my Facebook feed is filling up with people talking about the "Puss Caterpillar" (aka Flannel Moth) and warning people about them. I actually had a lady at the museum ask me yesterday if it was a Facebook hoax and I assured her they were real but that in seven years of raising caterpillars, I'd never seen one. Meanwhile, everyone is panicking. The article says they like oaks and elms. I have oaks all over my neighborhood (doesn't everyone in Tampa?) and we have both oaks and elms at MOSI. Anyway, if you're interested, here's the article. And tell me if you've ever seen or been stung by one.

Yup, I came across these online a few years ago. I've been in Fl. all my life tromping around through oaks & scrub, climbing oaks & all manner of things. I have never once seen one. Now, I just jinxed myself but I have never run across a puss cat.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
