It sounds like you have a system that pleases you, and that is very important.
Most daylily buyers, buy the flower. Many buy the credibility of the hybridizer. Some want to hybridize and they buy the genetics of the plant. The latter studies the parentage and the many characteristics that the purchased plant has.
It is a lot of work to be one of the latter, and I know it because I am the latter.
There is plenty of room for all of us with all our differences and motives for buying a particular plant.
