I was kidding about the multiflora and the oak trees.
I am tempted to dig up a few monster roses and try my hand at grafting - not for sale, just as an educational exercise.
I was concerned about multiflora and rosette disease since there are tons growing in the wild areas near my home. I removed specimens from my yard, the empty wooded area adjacent to my yard and directly across the street just in case. Luckily, according to Penn State outreach and other agencies, there aren't problems with rosette disease in the area (yet). I hope the big box stores are getting their knock out roses from virus free growers. They seem to be selling lots of them this year.
However, I was serious about yellow marigolds. I have been searching for true yellow marigolds (not goldenrod yellow). I thought that I had the best kind, but my neighbor planted some really nice large flowered short true lemon yellow marigolds this year. He got them in multipacks in the store, no tag, so I don't know the variety. Hope they come true from seeds.
