MotherRaphaela said:Lynn, I will admit that I am confused and I'm sure you've made this clear elsewhere, but is there ANY official use of the name "Jovibarba" anymore? Are most of the thread titles here truly outdated? I like the name and it seemed to me to be meaningful -- they might have the same DNA or whatever but they definitely used it differently...

At any rate, this is not an emergency question but just something that came up when I noticed yet another nursery offering Jovibarbas as distinct from semps... Confused MR

Great question MR. Recently the scientist have decided that Jovibarba and Sempervivum belong in the same genus.

Jovibarba globifera is now Sempervivum globiferum
Jovibarba heuffelii is nowSempervivum heuffelii
Jovibarba hirta is now Sempervivum hirtum

Neil, I can see all kinds of opportunity to increase my collection of sempervivum, with all those stone walls to plant in. Whistling
