LOL. Goes to show that what works in one area may not work in another. I tried Miracle Grow's Moisture Control potting mix and found it remained wet too long and that lead to root rot. Brugs need lots of water, but the roots themselves are susceptible to root rot if they lack oxygen. So I went back to the regular Miracle Grow potting mix and decided to follow the recommendation to add perlite to improve aeration. I need to water more often, but if I can avoid root rot, I'm happy.

Layering materials of different densities inside a pot slows down the movement of water through it thus slowing down draining and increasing the chances of root rot.
