So, today is Independence Day and a holiday. The celebration though is the night before. At 11pm all over the country the 'Grito' is read from the main square in towns and cities, large and small. It's in commemoration of the call to revolution by priest Hidalgo that started the war to free Mexico from Spain. I think 207 years ago. I live 6 blocks from the main square here and can hear the celebration clearly. I used to be able to see the cathedral there but in the last few years the trees have grown. Guess it has been too long since a hurricane - just kidding. I went out on my new roof last night and watched the fireworks though, perfect view and they were spectacular. It was nice to sit on the roof and enjoy it.

Here are some pics of a few of the new features. I like this faucet a lot. I wanted just a plain hose bibb but in stainless and high enough that I could fit a large pot underneath it. They were worried that to raise the pipe so high it would be unstable so they built this concrete post with the pipe inside it. Very cool.

I have to admit that walking around there today I thought it was really nice but it didn't seem all that different, or maybe it is that most of the work is under the floor and on the walls. It was sure a long process but I have what I wanted, a single level with tile on the floor.

This is the aluminum drain area. The floor is really well sloped, water runs quickly to the drain but you don't feel the slope when walking. The aluminum piece is light and can be lifted to clean out the drain area. Important here where we get huge rainfall in the summer.

A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.
