I think if you can get seeds from either one, there is a possibility of getting a variegated plant. It's been a long time since I was looking into how it works and I can't remember how likely it is. If I'm remembering correctly, it doesn't matter who provides the pollen since the variegation is heritable only from the pod parent. A caveat, though. There are types of variegation that are produced by bad matches of chromosomes between the two parents. That type of variegation is not heritable, I believe. But the most common type of variegation should stem from mom, not dad.
