Hi everyone. I killed the first Japanese beetle today. I was hoping the skunks had killed all of the grubs while digging up my lilies last winter. At least the lilies survived. My roses are sulking right now. Fire Meidiland is blooming nonstop just like last year. Baby Blanket and Carefree Celebrations are starting another flush of blooms. The others are dropping blackspotted leaves and sulking. At least they are alive. I'll continue to spray fungicide and fertilize them. The heavy spring rains delayed my spray schedule. I'll do better next year.

Do toads hurt roses? I build little toad houses by my hostas to encourage them to move in and eat slugs - someone on the hosta forum recommended it. My biggest pest this year is rabbits. They are devouring my California poppies. Ironically, they ignore my lettuce. Winston the pug is indifferent to rabbits. At first , I thought he had bad vision, but he just isn't interested in rodents. Food, people and other dogs interest him. Not rabbits. I may have to find him a terrier companion.

I am glad that the pictures are big here like the other site (I'm Andi there, GardenQuilts in the old Dave's Garden). I am also glad that you are continuing the cubit and the database.
