That's a good sign! Since the reaction can get worse with each exposure, be sure to wear well-protecting gloves to be SURE you don't let the sap touch your skin again! Otherwise, your allergies don't seem to be especially dangerous. Just use caution, and you should be fine. Better yet, have someone else make the cuts in the plants!
