Since most of my pots are from road side pickups I find that the majority of casual gardeners use a pot for one season and discard it (sometimes along with the plant) in the autumn. The pots may be a bit faded and are no longer 'decorative' but find they are usable for at least 2 - 3 more years in my yard.
