"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" is a Turkey Night classic movie.
And very appropriate to "Slugs on a Plane".
If I recall, the "Killer Tomato" special effect was a guy crawling under a red rug. Victims would scream in fear and pretend to crawl away as fast as they could, but the poor guy under the rug could hardly move at all. The victims had to sit or sprawl long enough for the rug-guy to crawl to them, then surreptitiously flip one corner of the rug over them as if eating them.
