Great article Smiling Thank you. I'm just getting started with my little space and no matter what I read I keep coming back to the fact that native plants truly are the most logical way of gardening. Being on a limited budget is definitely helping me keep it simple, and native plants appear to be the best way of investing in my garden. A beautiful eye-pleasing garden is obviously my goal, however, adaptation to heat and drought are primary for me and native plants do this. As you stated wildlife really do need and want native plants as opposed to exotics. This year I had two hummingbirds, three bumble bees, lots of ants, ONE monarch that fed on my lone milkweed, assorted moths, and very few songbirds. I am in process of creating more beds, along with a small vegetable garden, and come Spring will begin to plant new native plants. It will take time, but, I'm committed to encouraging bees, butterflies and birds to come to my little back yard. Thanks again for an informative article.
