Somehow this thread was overlooked by me.

I do use brick to pave small areas in my yard, not large areas ... mainly due to laziness and expense. You do have to prepare the ground to lay down brick if it is a large area such as a patio. Laying brick is also much more tedious because each piece is much smaller in size, so more work needed to lay a patio.
