Thanks Jim in Deland and Jim in south florida. We have no idea what type of lawn or grass it used to be mostly now dollar weed and sand spurs ouch!. I was just surfing and found out that yes the first thing we need to do is get a PH reading first to see what additives we need. My DH just wants to rottatil it up and add top soil and plant seed. I told him that won't work for a long term lawn. Soil test first then ammend the soil as needed. I was looking at the argentine bahi grass. First had thought zoysia then read up on it then read up on ST augustine grass. Neither fit our needs. We have some shade due to the neighbors litterly liking the Jungle look on the property line. But mostly sun.
