I'll add Tradescantia sillamontana (kitten ears) to this list. I thought I was letting stuff get too dry last winter, but the same thing is happening this year. Apparently these like to discard prior growth and start again from the roots over winter, at least in the culture of a pot that goes out for summer, in for winter, and in my care.
Hypoestes does the same thing.
