One last November item: Never rush a chicken. Wanting to get Thanksgiving dinner on the table at a reasonable hour, I started evening chores early - or tried to. None of the other animals minded being fed/put in early but the chickens were not ready for bed. Several were still puttering around after I had finished with everything else, and when I tried to guide them into the coops they upset their friends and soon there were chickens everywhere! Herding chickens is only marginally more productive than herding cats... Thanksgiving dinner was NOT early.
