Anyone have luck rooting Oak Leaf Ivy and can give some advice?

I have tried in some water and had no luck. The cuttings lived and grew but never got any ROOTS! I want to take some clippings to work but can't seem to get any started. Would soil be better? Sand? I thought they were suppose to be easy! Rolling my eyes.
If we had no holes in our leaves we would have no butterflies!
