SuperThrive is not a fertilizer, and its only real use is as a root stimulant. So if you're rooting cuttings, or growing seedlings it's ok, but there's no research that shows it has much benefit. It's definitely not what you want to use to spray on the leaves of your orchids. Any soluble fertilizer, like Miracle Gro, or Better Gro for Orchids will be great.

Does your clay pot have vent holes in the sides? Third pic is an orchid pot from Lowe's, about $4.

The fir bark mix from the big box stores works ok for my Phals. You just have to be sure to wait for it to dry out. As it breaks down (a year or two) it will get more moisture retentive so you need to keep an eye on it.
