What's "manageable" and "light" traffic for you would be quite different for me. It takes me 10 minutes to drive from south of town to north of town and I get PO'd when it takes me 12 minutes!
I know, I am spoiled.
Needless to say, the Miami traffic drove me absolutely crazy and often being the only English-speaking person in the room was, well, sort of unsettling. I think I had more English-speaking folks around when I was in Central America than there were in Miami.
I did go to three "speciality" nurseries near Homestead. The Phal. one was owned/operated by a Mexican family and most there spoke very little English. The second one was a Vanda nursery, owned/operated by a Thai and he spoke pretty good English. He said English is taught extensively in Thailand and that he had been in the States for ten years. The third was a Cattleya nursery, the owner/operator was Cuban and he spoke very good English. He was born in Miami. I guess all the English-speaking folks are in Sarasota.
