That is a sunflower. One of those stuffed type with the wire inside the stem. Whenever I see these at sales, I grab them and put them in my gardens somewhere. I put a big one on the roof of the playground set. I stapled it laying down on the roof.
You can see it in this picture. This was taken on 9/27/2012. A lot has changed in the 2 years since that was taken.
