Jay is correct on the identification. I know this somewhere in the back of my mind. I've just known the plant as being called 'Virginia Spiderwort' for decades and that's what I always remember first and how I'd labeled the photo. Maybe I'll learn and remember Commelina one of these days. So far I've reached the point where I know spiderwort is incorrect, but can't pull the correct name out of the slush that is my mind. For all the pretty blooms, it's a difficult plant to eradicate when it's growing where it's not welcome.

Now if only someone would hybridize an iris in that exact color! One of the very few blooms I consider true blue without a hint of purple, lavender, lilac or pink - just blue.
