Light colored or white venetian blind slats have worked well for plant stakes for me. Just cut the length you need with scissors if it's plastic and cut at an angle to more easily stick in the soil. Check for them at thrift stores and garage sales.Use black felt tip markers or no. 2 pencil for marking. Lasts a couple of years in my seaside garden.
