Hi Pat! Your purple one is probably 'Crimson King'. It often blooms in the winter around here (santa cruz). It grows like a weed, and it's often found in abandoned gardens, as it's tough as nails. Your other Iris is lovely too!


Mary Ann, that was one of the Ameraucana chicks I raised this summer. Her name is Melody and she is much loved in her new home. I raised 4 so I could pick the 2 I liked best. I just saw her last weekend, and she's grown a magnificent black beard.

Neal, thank-you... I'm about 90% white now.. although I still think of myself as blonde (once a blonde.... always a blonde!). I met my birth mother in my 40's and I though she had beautiful white hair. I figured since I looked just like her that I'd be ok just letting it go.
The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.
