Wow Vickie. I had a stalk on an Agapanthus do exactly what is showing in your second photo. The stalk looped around and just exploded. It did go on to bloom but the stalk was a lot thicker than a daylily stalk. The bloom was way down in the foliage. I had assumed it was due to the stress of being transplanted not too long before the stalk emerged. Later stalks grew normally. I'm still trying to learn what the plant likes so I'll watch for this effect. And on the daylilies!
