I have planted mind in large pots (24" or so across and 12-15" deep) with the bottoms cut out. I figured I could control its tendency to spread madly here. The roots turn woody and thicken so much that I don't trust being able to control it any other way. No flowers to be seen in the last two years though. Which is good.
