I don't think toads hurt roses once they are planted..they are wonderful to have in the garden. Mine are a problem with my baby roses that are in pots. The toads like to get into the pot and they tend to kick the roses out of the pot..,I often see them when I water the pots..but the squirrels! They destroy the roses (again in the pots)I have lost many roses to them..
