Hellebores are really great plants, and come in soft yellow, pink and mellow shades of red as well as white. There are some double ones as well. I'll caution you on two things about them though: they're pretty slow growers so it takes a while for them to clump up and look really great, and (because of the slow growth) they're pretty expensive to buy.

Well worth it, though. If I were ever to move back to a place that suffers winter I'd surely plant a whole garden of them.

Here's a clump I planted in my daughter's garden in Salt Lake City. This would be its third year, blooming up a storm.
