[quote="Phillipb2"]Three years ago I looked up some site on the Internet and was just tinkering around with a bee pod. I think two iris sprouted from that pod.
Two years ago I tried another bee pod. I forgot the seeds in the refrigerator and left them there for 8 to 9 months. Hilarious! one seed had sprouted. Most of them got moldy after leaving them so long.
This year I tried crossing a few and also had a few bee pods.
I don't remember the site I looked up but it did not say anything about drying the seeds before soaking them. So here is what I did:
After the pods dried out, I put the seeds in water to soak right away. After a week to ten days and changing the water daily I put them on a damp paper towels then put them in plastic bags and put them in the refrigerator for about six to eight weeks.
Last weekend I took them out and planted them in pots. Writing all the information on the pots. (After today I'm hoping they didn't get washed out of their pots with the down pore we had this afternoon)
I'm leaving them outside this winter, if they grow they grow, if not I'll be looking at this thread again next year Hurray!

Marilyn, the above is what I posted on 10-25-14, (on this thread) I think your seeds will be just fine. If you read the above I think I did everything wrong. I did not dry my seeds before soaking, I placed them in a damp paper towel and then a plastic bag (no foil packet). I did leave them in the crisper for 6 weeks and planted them in pots the end of September 2014. I think only one or two of the seeds had started to root. I put the pots out in an open area in my yard with no protection from critters or the weather. About three weeks after the seeds were planted we had a really hard downpour and I thought the seed may have wash out so I added some vermiculite to the top of the potting soil. I looked at the pots in November I had some little green sprouts. Last week I counted 49 that have sprouted so far. Some of them are about three inches tall now and some were just poking through the potting soil. I did write on the pots how many seeds were planted in each pot just for my own information.
The one sprout from the year I forgot the seeds in the refrigerator for 8 or 9 months is still alive and doing well.
So far I've just been playing around just to see if I could get a cross to take and to see if the seeds would grow.
