I concur, 6 to 9 feet is accurate and depends on the year . . . I would suspect it is not the best choice for growing in pots. Shorter varieties like 'Yukon Chief' or 'Orchard Baby' do better since they max out at 4 to 5 feet.

Also, in order to see a broad, diverse color range, the larger the planting the better. Each plants (stalk) produces two ears that look almost identical.
