I thought the same thing when I saw this pic, but whenever you're unsure, it's safe to go with the parent entry. From your pic, which doesn't show the overall habit & leaf arrangement/spacing, and slightly different placement of the leaf stripes, would make me hesitate to move it.
Lucky bamboo in stores is usually the plain, non-variegated type, that I've seen. Whenever I've seen the variegated one for sale, it was in a pot instead of water. No idea if that's because it's not traditional to use the variegated "as lucky bamboo," this is the way they think people prefer for each, or if the variegated one tends to not live very long in water. Might also need more light than where people usually try to grow plain green LB.
This one's also similar, and has leaves that look a little longer than yours, that grow much more close together on the stem than D. braunii.
