Yes, I agree with all of the above. I'm in zone 8a, and have bought peony roots and planted them in late winter/early spring. Lo and behold one year, I got a bloom within a couple of months of planting. It was unexpected and I was shocked. But I enjoyed it all the more. It was my 1st Festiva Maxima. Usually peony need a year to settle in and then bloom the next.
