I do not like the old fashioned Nandinas. They grew as a foundation plant when I was a very little girl. They would get tall and leggy and just looked awful. I don't like them to this day. And their roots make a six inch deep mat of tough underground green growth that you cannot dig up.
Barbara, I agree about trying to get rid of vinca minor. Someone planted it on the steep slope behind my house and it has been climbing upward for years. The roots send feelers out for yards before they emerge among my beds. It stays green all winter and blooms blue in the spring but it is such a hassle that I dislike it altogether.
