That is exactly the kind of information I think would be helpful in the documentation gallery. Basically, documentation that people can compare what they have, against what it is supposed to look like. Or to help identify an unknown.
They only caveat is that the images need to be in the public domain or permission obtained from the copyright owner. Many botanical prints are 18th and 19th century and in the public domain. There are tons of candidates in the place like Wikicommons.
