K word - Kill.
If the crown of a dl is damaged it can kill it.
This can be the result of stepping on a plant accidentally, or crown rot. Planting the dl too deep will cause the crown to rot as well. If the crown stays wet (too much watering or rainfall) during hot weather it can rot.
Accidentally spraying your dl with herbicide whether or directly or by overspray can also kill the plant.
